Wattle Downs is a suburb of the former Manukau City, Auckland, in northern New Zealand. The suburb is located on the Mahia Park peninsula on the Manukau Harbour, along with Wattle Cove. It is 25 kilometres south of Auckland CBD and 10 kilometres south of Manukau City. ==Development== Originally the Mahia Park peninsula was farmland (Wattle Farm) but has been developed in a number of phases. The area is almost exclusively residential, with only a few shops and schools. Wattle Cove which is down the end of the peninsula, will contain new houses. Some have already been built but there is still a big area of farmland. Acacia Cove Retirement Village, a relatively new village, is situated on Wattle Farm Road opposite the golf course. There are two major shopping areas, one at one end of the peninsula on McQuarrie Ave opposite Clayton Park school, this shopping area includes Cedar Park Dairy, a bakery, and a hairdresser.
